SAFEGUARDING POLICY

Introduction:

Gymlab is committed to the safety and welfare of all children, young people, and vulnerable adults participating in our programs. We adhere to the highest standards of protection, aligning our practices with British Gymnastics (BG) policies and prevailing legislation.

Commitments:

- Adherence to Standards: We adopt and regularly update our practices according to the British Gymnastics health, safety, and welfare guidelines, accessible here.

- Staff Training: All staff and volunteers are thoroughly trained to understand their safeguarding responsibilities. Regular training sessions are held to equip them with the skills needed to recognise and respond to signs of abuse, neglect, and other safeguarding concerns.

- Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): A DSL is appointed to ensure that all concerns regarding welfare are managed and acted upon appropriately. Concerns can be reported confidentially to welfare@gymlab.fit.

- Open Environment: We foster an environment where concerns about safety can be openly discussed without fear of retribution, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly and effectively following Gymlab’s Complaints Procedure.

- Incident Handling: We take immediate and appropriate action in the event of abuse or neglect, providing support to those affected and ensuring all incidents are handled with sensitivity and confidentiality.

- Safe Recruitment: Measures are in place to prevent the employment of unsuitable individuals, including rigorous screening, reference checks, and criminal record disclosures.

- Zero Tolerance Policy: We maintain strict policies against poor practice, bullying, and all forms of abuse. Our Anti-Bullying Policy is available for further details.

- Inclusivity: We recognise the increased vulnerability of certain groups of children and affirm the protection rights of all individuals, regardless of their background or identity.

- Media Safety: Clear policies are established concerning the use of video, film, and photography during sessions and events to safeguard participants.

- Awareness: We ensure all involved parties, including coaches, members, and parents, are familiar with the club rules and the rationale behind our policies.
